Caught off-guard, Zakai couldn’t handle the punch and stumbled backward several steps. The corner of his mouth was bleeding and swollen.
Lucinda was taken aback, but when she caught sight of Nathan’s enraged expression, she felt a twinge of guilt.
“Nate, what brings you here?”
Nathan glared at her, and clenched his teeth.
“If I hadn’t shown up, would you have kept it hidden from me forever?”
“Well… You’ve misunderstood. It’s just a dinner.”
As she responded, she hurried over to check on Zakai.
“Are you alright?”
He wiped the blood from his mouth.
“It hurts, but I’m fine.”
Coming from a privileged background, Zakai had never been on the receiving end of a beating. He hadn’t expected Nathan to punch him as he arrived.
